Hi all - can anyone advise please.

I have installed a Com 300 (CTR21 Communicator PN CEA-001) onto The Texecom 48 Panel.

Using Wintex I have:

In "Options" Tab
enabled the communicator - tick
dial all numbers - tick

In Tab "ARCs" I have enterd the numbers I want to dial

In Tab "Radio Pad and comport options" to shows onboard digicom = com 300 module

I have conmected to BT wall outlet and Used RJ45 on the Com 300.

I get "ATS path faullt no ATS available" on display.

I'm sure I've missed something just don't know what it is?

What are you expecting to do with the comm 300 ? How old is it ? And how old is your panel ?

Hmm, Hi Sparkymarka, by you question I am wondering if I have bought the wrong thing....

I want to use it as a dialer to alert me by telphone call if alarm triggers - is it the correct tool for that should I use something else?

Sorry - the panel is a texecom 48 Premier - less than 6 months - the com 300 is "new" but could be old stock? it is the 10 pin type

Ok then it won't send you texts you need the 2400 I never use the rj connector allways hardwired the bt cable in , not sure if the rj is out to extensions only ? Meter the line in R and T on the comm 300 on dc , do you have around 50v ? With the rj still connected if not check T1 and R1

com300 is for arc or udl so doesn't do what you want it to do. (very slow)

as for the rest see sparkymarka reply

if you have a good gsm signal i would spend the extra over the com2400 and get the gsm com but shop around fpr price.

Thanks, It's re-assuring that I have only partly bought the wrong thing  as I would have preffered texts and only read that the 300 does not text. I may change it later but thought if I'd get the 300 setup sorted first.

Looks like you are going the right way with the RJ45 - I have no reading across eiter of the pins. Is it an option to gut off the RJ and use the wires?

Thanks secureiam. I was typing my reply as your reply came in so I didn't see it.

As you both seem to agree the best route is to abandon the 300 and go for the 2400. Unfortunately, its pretty rural and the GSM signal is not good; 2MB broadband when it is on - etc (I won't go on!).

I have also seen Texecom PSD001 SPEECH + TEXT DIALLER, will that be better/easier or more cost/hassle?

Its also getting a bit tight in the panel location area so would be better housed in the panel.

Thanks again for your help

if you bought the speech dialler, can you get a refund for it?

basically the sms side is the same as the com 2400 (dials a TAP service, just dont have as many numbers you can can put in, the com 2400 however will give additional information rather than a fixed message, and the com 2400 cant give you a voice message, again the speech dialler is a pre recorded message).

TAP services are not known to be the most reliable and can cost 25p vodafone and 50p for the other service but the name escapes me at present for each message sent). Obvioulsy it will also depend on your line provider.
