Hi All

I've just put the first coat on my new plaster but check this AM and you can scratch it off with your nail?.. Is this right?..

I used Selco Contract matt http://www.selcobw.com/products/pai...co-contract-matt-paint-brilliant-white-10-ltr and watered it down 50/50... I did put a bit on until it became solid but would have thought at that mix it would easy get in there..

anyone else experiance this... should I just crack on and add another coat?.. Cheers

Did you thin the paint enough? Is it fully dried(not just touch dry).
AT this stage, you'll probably have to soldier on and hope for the best.
If it's only touch dry, give it ore time. You should be able to sand it very lightly before the next coat and so this seems wrong to me.

Sounds a bit worrying 50/50 should get sucked into the wall like a sponge.
Mind you it is not good drying weather, still damp and cold so the paint may not have cured fully. I would keep the room well ventilated and warm for 48 hours and see how it is then.

I think the 50/50 was the problem. That and the fact I put a lot on until it was solid instead of a 'mist' coat. And the fact its cold and damp out. Just checked it now and its still cold to the touch but has gone off a lot. It now wont scrape off unless you try very hard. The plaster was bone dry so I assume it has soaked it up like a sponge and retained it. Anyway should be good once it is dry :p thanks for your help!
