Hi,

I looked at plenty of trowel questions, and most end up saying use a 20mm/10mm round for floors.

BAL say use 20mm/13mm round for large format tiles.

Is that really necessary? and if so where can that be sourced? I cant find one anywhere having trolled the web for a couple of days.

Anyone have any suggestions? Or is 10mm really sufficient?

Tiles are 60cm x 60cm porcelin.

Thanks in advance for your help.

depends what your going over but most fixers would use something like a 10mm trowel. Large format is a relative term, 60x60 was considered huge a while back but now is the norm, large format these days can be 1200x1200 or larger so i suspect they are covering themselves.

Often on 60x60s advice is the back butter the tile too.

Thanks.

Ii will butter the backs, and can use a 10 mm trowel . Was just curious as to why BAL specify a 13mm round notch, when it seems impossible to find one inthe UK.

Sothanks for your response.

Hi Adamch

Thanks for the response and helpful links.

I have a 10mm U trowel, but the deeper one looks like it fits the bill. Shame its only available in 16inch size though.

I,m going to be fixing over rapid matt with SPF. Floor is reasonably level so shouldnt have much to make up.
