Surprisingly Google doesn't seem to be providing me with quite a simple and I would imagine common problem!

How do you remove etching from Honed (not polished) Travertine? The etching was caused by a spillage of chemical cleaner on a bathroom floor, resulting in a dull patch (not stained).

I've found one product - Aldon Fine Stone Restoration but it only seems to be available in the States?

Honing is polishing that stops before the grits get very fine,.

The only solution I'm aware of is repolishing the stone. You'll be lucky to have it end up looking like the tiles next to it though & you may not have the gear necessary to do it yourself and the etching may go too deep to polish out.

If you have a spare it might be easier to remove & replace.

One of the downsides with natural stone.

whilst adamch is right, it may be worth talking to lithofin (casdron in this country). depending what you have spilt on it, and what it was sealed with you may be able to draw the stain back out
