what weeds have i got?

Morning all.

Just about to give our 6month old grass its first cut - and iv noticed i have hundreds of little weefs growing out of the grass too and in my soil for plants.

Does anybody know what they are and the best treatment?

I had the same issue with weeds and one of the fine posters on here suggested the site below.

It really is VERY helpful and will tell you what weeds you have and what is the best way to get rid of them.

Those look like sycamore seedlings. Do you have any trees nearby?

A selective herbicide such as Verdone will do the job. I'd avoid weed and feed products if I were you, you'll spend all your life cutting the damned lawn, assuming you were able to spread it correctly, as apply too much and the grass dies. Make sure you dispose of the cuttings responsibly.

Definately Sycamore seeds, i just mow over them or pull them out. They dont need any weedkiller putting on them.

Hi everyone.

Thanks for the responses, id definitely like to eliminate them from the new turf if possible. Yes the garden is surrounded by trees from the old railway cutting.

Is Verdone one of the best to go for then?

You don't need a pesticide. Just mow the grass.

It must be a good year for Sycamore seeds, i got the things sprouting up everywhere.....in the lawn, beds, pond, gutters and inbetween the block paving. As said before, just mow the lawn or pull them out if theres not too many.
