The Super Fuse

Hmmm - I think you're probably scraping the same barrel that he does. In any event, there are far far cheaper ways of getting a low impedance mains supply than by using his magic cable!

A very fair point in the context of home audio, John. I must admit that my mind had drifted off-topic towards amplifiers I'm used to using at work, some of which have a peak demand in excess of 3kva for short periods. The only requirement I have for the power cables on those is to be of large enough CSA!

I can see how being able to adjust the voltage tapping could mean you can lift the volts back to 240 for old equipment which does not use switch mode regulation. However really you would want this to be automatic.

However the isolation transformer means the RCD will not work on the items plugged into the unit. With a single item as with a shaver transformer this is not a problem but with four outlets it is. If two items are faulty one can get a shock and at a 115 volt to earth it is still classed as low voltage not reduced low voltage. Also it means any items with single pole switching will be live even when switched off.

So he is selling a device to bypass all the safety features found with the normal house hold supply.

To my mind to use this device at least plugs with two fuses are required. Really the outputs should be linked so if one phase fails the other will auto switch off. It should have a double pole RCBO on each output.

Seems to me he is a very dangerous man. Not sure how you hear silence?

The earth rod page:
the earth rod must be connected to our Technical Grounding Block which means that the rod grounds RF but isolates it from mains voltages in the event of a fault. You must not connect the earth rod directly to the earthing point on our sockets and mains extensions.
An earth rod with a cable entering the building is an extraneous conductive part, and therefore requires bonding to the main earth terminal.
Therefore totally bypassing any filter capacitors and other junk in the grounding block, which apparently only
accepts cut & stripped, 4mm Banana and 6mm Spades
so no room for a 10mm² green/yellow insulated copper wire.

By following RA's advice and not connecting the earth rod to anything other than his wooden earth block, and used on a TN-C-S system, there could be some interesting effects as there can be non-trivial voltage differences between earthed metalwork in the installation and external items such as earth rods with no equipotential bonding in place. The capacitors inside the block may emit smoke or flames, and the wooden block is ideally placed to act as dry kindling for maximum firestarting effect.

I just wonder after shelling out over £5K for a mains cable how easy it would be to get your money back if you weren't completely satisfied?

You wouldn't get the money back as the cable would have been damaged, contaminated by impure electrons from the copper in the cable feeding the mains socket.

Is there anyone more gullible than a hi-fi enthusiast ? As per my previous comment do the magazines ever have any hard proof to back up their claims that some product or polishing the pins of your 13 amp plugs improves your sound quality ?

Theres a few good articles on proper double blind studys, including one i read where the "audiophile" couldnt tell the difference between his £££££ valve amplified setup, and a £500 Onkyo AV receiver, in his own home, with his own speakers, listening to his own content...

Did the report describe how he reacted to that?

And talking of valves - there are, amongst the gullible and deluded victims of fraud, those who believe that if you take a valve and make it very cold for a while it will sound better afterwards.

I thought that site was some kind of April fools joke. Unbelievable that they get away with some of the claims.
