I have had professional disco lights for many years as stage lighting is a small hobby of mine, and in my old house I had them up on a similar bar in my garage.
Well I had just about got fed up of them in their boxes not being used and had no room to put up my portable light stand in my bedroom and so erected this 2.3 meter long metal bar in my bedroom above my bed so I could hang them up.
The bar as shown is mild steel box section what is 50mm wide x 30mm tall x 2300mm long with a 3mm wall.
4 x 200mm M10 coach screws are used to secure the bar into the ceilings joists, with 80mm gap between the bar and the ceiling.
To obtain this gap, I used 80mm lengths of metal pipe and large washers to hide the coach screws and give me the correct distance between the ceiling and the bar.
As you can also tell I have painted the bar green to match my curtain, which I simply did by using a all in one spray primer and paint
Lastly, there are 7 x 8.5mm holes spaced out every 300mm what are used to suspend the individual lights/fixtures as well as 4 x 11mm holes for the M10 coach screws.
