Which adhesive to stick ABS to wood?

Hi guys, hope this is in the right section, im in the middle of fitting out our bathroom, i have bought one of these shower trays:

In the fitting instructions it says 'contact your local diy retailer and request an adhesive intended for sticking ABS (the plastic base of the shower tray) to wood/concrete as applicable'

I will be sticking it down onto hardiebacker boards which will be tanked for extra measure, is anyone aware of anything that will do the job? the tray is 1700x900mm so quite a large area to cover, would tile adhesive to the job?

thanks, i was hoping for something a little cheaper but if it has to be then thats what il have to get, as i said its a large area to cover so will be looking at 5 to 10 tubes of that stuff id imagine?

surely theres something else that will be more cost effective? tile adhesive or sand and cement? polyurethane glue?

I would only use one tube. Just run lines. It isn't going to try and go anywhere even if it wasn't fastened at all.

expanding foam would be the cheapest.

For a tray that size, no more than 2 tubes needed. depending on how flat it is on the underside you might get away with just 1 tube.

it is just a totally flat surface on the underside and the floor is pretty flat too, do you recommend covering the whole area or just the outline and a few lines in the middle with a thick bead?

Yea that will work, I also run a heavy bead on the sides that are going against the walls, it helps fix the tray and is a second line of defence if ya like against water leaks when the jobs complete.

I called the company who makes the tray today and they said an adhesive like no more nails would be suitable, as long as its something that doesnt have silicone in as this will let it flex. They said to run 6mm beads at 25mm spacing, surely thats gonna use a lot of tubes with a 1700mm wide tray that is 900mm deep.

A 6mm bead 100mm long is approximately 2.9ml

Your tubes are 290ml so enough for 100 of such beads, or in other words, 10 metres of bead

Spaced as the tech department have told you will require around 60 metres of bead so 6 tubes. Spaced as we have told you, will require around 2.

You can buy a 12 tubes of sticks like for 3.13 each on fleabay

Great sealant adhesive and you'll find lots of uses for it.. I use it on my slipped slates, for example

So, 6 quid to stick your tray down or 18.. Either way it's not a fortune
