Painting Garden pot / Garden planter

Pretty newbie and diy clueless so thought I will ask you guys for your expertise.

I got some ugly garden pot, but convenient.

I would like to bring them to something more colourful - Do you think I could paint them?

If so, what kind of paint should I used? Will the paint stay on the planter / large pot? or will it flake easily?

The idea is to save money and just paint the pot rather than buying new one - but would not want a false economy...

What do you think?

I guess if there are something within the pot, it will need to be empty really.

What's the pot made of?

If it's terracotta, untreated, then you can thoroughly clean the pot, wait for it to dry, use acrylic art paints or something like a spray enamel.. then you need to seal the pot all over (don't forget underneath) with a spray lacquer. If you don't do this, the paint will bubble off because you have a plant inside, the water will go though and make the paint peel.

Should last you a few years if you seal it.

sorry for forgetting what to say the pot were made off.
for me they look like plastic / general plastic.

I like your spirit of making do and mend, but they're knackered and not worth the effort to save in my opinion..
Get yourself down to Wilko's and buy new ones - cheap as chips there!

I might be late to this thread, you may have already thrown them away, but look for some spray paint for plastic use. Should be relatively inexpensive and easy enough to do And if it doesnt last, then toss em, but at least you know you tried, and you might have got another month or few out of them at least
