About to tile dining room floor took laminate up and forgot the whole bottom floor of our house has these horrid brown tiles stuck down with black type adhesive so i start ripping them up cause some were broken and really brittle bf said dont bother tile over them cause the black stuff is quite hard to get off! and they probably have asbestos (house built in 70s) I have read online some people say its ok to tile on them some say no way I am stuck hope someone can help😁😁😁😁

I assume the floor is concrete?
Ideally you should lift them, but providing the existing tiles are sound, there are no real reasons why they cannot be tiled on.

as above, but if they are brittle and coming up, then remember anything you stick your new tiles down with will only be stuck to those, and if they lift so will your new tiles. If they are solid then prime them with a slurry coat (acrylic bonding agent mixed with some portland cement) and let it dry, then tile with a 1 part flexible adhesive
