Subject says it all really.

Does the normal stuff degrade in sunlight and, if so, how long before it needs replacing?

Also, is there stuff that doesn't degrade in sunlight?

Thanks people.

It'll go brittle & deteriate if not painted. We used MUPVC for years & it was great, but moved over to ABS - which is not so good & can discolour very quickly.

What is very degradable is the pushfit toilet cistern overflow pipes they turn to powder - course they tend to be a thing of the past in newbuilds

Previous owners of my home had sink and washing machine waste going straight outside and into the drains; both of them had become brittle and fell apart when touched -the latter was only a few years old. I glossed the replacement pipe.

Most push fit/compression fittings/pipe are less UV stable that solvent weld and don't do well outside over time IME. Solvent weld (MuPVC/ABS) would be my material of choice for external pipe runs. Black seems to more resistant due to the carbon additives.
