hi,

I have a built in single electric over by samsung BF641fst which is about 4 years old

Recently it has developed a burning smell, almost chemical.

The oven has been cleaned to no fix, and there is no associated smoke. I can run the fan ok and then the minute the heat is applied it seems to start this acrid smell. The oven is pretty clean im pretty sure its not fat or grease.

Any ideas?

Probably not an electrical wiring problem then!

You are probably better asking in the Appliances section.
I've asked for you to be moved.

Update,
Took back plate off. Pretty obvious that a connector had been burning. Think its the connection to one of the elements.

Are they easy inexpensive to replace. Probably should do the element as well i suppose?

Thanks

They are plug on spade connectors - as you can see yours has had a heat resistant (!) cover.
Perhaps the connection wasn't as tight as it could have been, which can cause this. Cut the black wire where it goes into the connection and fix on a new connector.
Heat resistant fabric sleeving is available to cover it with.
It could be an idea to replace the element as you are in there, but it may not be strictly necessary.
John :)

thanks for the advice. i found the wire harness online for £20 and the element is another £60 so not sure if it is worth mucking about with to be honest.
im not entirely confident about putting just a spade connector on there as there maybe an overriding problem with it and dont want to risk a fire
