Lawn Edging

I was just wondering if anyone has used plastic lawn edging. I haven't seen any in gardening shops but looking at it online it looks like a good idea but just wondering if it actually works or looks ok once in a flower bed/grass border?

I would not bother. It is one of these ideas which is created to supposedly make to make things easier, but in the medium to long term will turn out to be a waste of money.

To have nice lawn edges requires upkeep and good edging. This is one of those quick fix ideas.

The plastic will eventually degrade and become brittle when exposed to the elements. It will probably get caught whilst digging or mowing the lawn. It will also get slowly consumed by the earth and grass around it so you have to dig it out anyway.

As I said, the best way to have a nice lawn edge is to....maintain your lawn. Cut the grass often and get an edging tool.

Personally, I do not get the idea of having a nice lawn surrounded by plastic.

As above, we put a small 50mm wide cement edge around ours for ease of maintenance. The lawnmower runs on it and if you strim, the line just cuts to the level of the top. We used a flat top edge rather than a round, easier for maintenance. Curves, you will have to make a mould, so not as easy as plastic.

I just had a mow strip installed around my garden consisting of basic driving pavers positioned around the garden level with the soil so that when mown, it creates a nice finish. Simple bed of cement around the garden, then sit the pavers into it - job done!
