Was looking in the airing cupboard last night planning ahead for installing a shower pump and have identified the cold water feed from the tank in the loft to the HW cylinder (22mm), the cold feed from the tank in the loft into the bathroom/en-suite (22mm) and also the HW feed from the HW cylinder (22mm). I can also see the boiler feed and return pipework into and out of the HW cylinder. However, there's also a 15mm pipe coming from the loft and going into the bathroom and through the floor (presumably going downstairs). It's got a stopcock on it. Haven't tried closing the stopcock yet to ID the pipe definitively, but any ideas what this could be? Could there be separate feeds for the toilet flush and the bath fillers, for example?

The Stopcock should have an arrow on it which should give you an indication if it is rising to above or dropping to below! sounds like CWM to feed the roof tanks to me!

Yep, it's the rising mains to the CW storage tank. Stopcock is on a pipe that tees-off to the bathroom, but I can't see a difference to anything whether it's on or off! Can only assume the stopcock is somehow knackered (although it feels OK) and it was put there to isolate the CWM services in the bathroom.

The stopcock is there so you can change the float valve in the cold water tank (and header tank if you have one) without getting wet!

Sorry if I'm stating the obvious :)

That would make sense if the stopcock was on the rising mains in the airing cupboard, but the stopcock is on a run of pipe that Tees off the rising main and goes into the bathroom, so I assume it was put there to isolate CWM services in the bathroom and en-suite?

I guess if nothing stops or even slows when you close it there won't be much to try other than trace the pipe, even a duff stopcock will usually slow the supply providing it can be turned.
