Adding an extra light to existing circuit

Thanks again! I will provide some pics when home from work.

But basically rather than having 1 supply cable to my new ceiling rose I could have 2 supply cables. Where one is N and E from an existing rose, and the other is L and E from a permanent live in a switch?

That is what I was proposing - link the N/E from one of the old ceiling roses to the new rose (bringing you the Neutral and Earth loop) - bring L/E? (you don't need to bring the extra E but its up to you) from the switch to the new rose (bringing you the Live loop).
That way you can use your newly wired ceiling rose as a LNE loop to any addition roses you want to add later, as well as providing a live/switch live to the new switch.

Wired up as described above. And all up and running now! Did a bit more research too and found quite a bit explaining how this system works where neutral runs from the CU through ceiling roses and the permanent live goes from CU and then switch to switch with a switched live to control each light.
