I have just purchased a kenwood KHC604 induction hob to replace my Samsung ceramic hob that has just died,

the sockets behind the hob / oven are -

hard wired for the hob
plug / socket for the cooker

both of these are linked to the switch above the work surface,

I assume that I can just replace the old ceramic hob with the induction with no issues ?

im also a little confused by the wiring diagram,

My from hard wired point I have 1 x L /1 x N / 1 x E

My assumption is that I use the diagram -

220-240 v as I only have 1 x L,

the other 2 diagrams indicate 2 x L or 3 x L,

Any help would be much appreciated

Yes you are correct, the 2 xL & 3 x L are for 2 or 3 phase supply connections, you only have a single phase supply. The main thing you have to consider is that the power requirement rating of the old & new hobs are the same or similar.

any idea where I would find the power requirement rating as I don't see it in either manual ?

NOTE: The earth conductor must be left about 3 cm longer than the others.
POWER SUPPLY
220-240/380-415 V 3N~ 50/60 Hz
INDUCTION POWER = 7400 W MAX

A diversity factor may be applied to the total loading of the appliance only by a suitably
qualified person

Diversity means the total power in use may never reach the 7400 Watt maximum if the controller prevents all the hobs being at full at the same time.

7400 Watts may be allowed with a 3 phase supply but not on a single phase supply as the single phase current for 7400 watts is about 32 amps.

On some appliances the power controller detects whether the supply is single phase or 3 phase.

I would check with Kenwood that the appliance does limit to less than 7400 watts when on a single phase supply.

If the limitation is not automatic depending on how many phases are supplied and it has been set up for use in a country where a three phase domestic supply is available then it might attempt to run at 7400 watts.
