Smart meters.

For one, these smart meters pull a small charge off the grid (more if you use the LCD display), I asked a theoretical question - ''if every premises were to have a smart meter installed with LCD display, how much energy would be used?'' I got no response. These smart meters can be switched off remotely from a guy in a van outside.

Some of the meters turn the display off, and they turn it from the office no need for a van. One day you will have a smart meter, I guarantee it.

So an even worse scenario to face, thanks for clarifying

One day you will have a smart meter, I guarantee it.

Maybe you're right, but it won't be through consent, and if I were you I'd lose the smugness because people are beginning to stand for their rights now, and they have the right to say no despite the effort of the government and partisans of these private corporations (such as yourself) to squash the people they depend on for their wages.

The propensity to produce your own energy grows every year, face that fact.

I'd like to see the day where a home can be powered (at least 80% of the time) by a small and discreet localised photovolatic set up, where energy is stored at the property.

I'd like to see a turning of the tables nationwide, where occupiers finally tell these companies to get stuffed once and for all - come and take their meters because they don't need it anymore.

It will be a reality at one point, I guarantee it. :)

you should always swap suppliers at the end off your last swap end unless you do a very detailed check
the typical trick off you supplier is the "normal tariff " you revert to will be say 25-40% more than your present tariff so they will offer you a new deal that will save you over the default tariff just before the term end offering you a say 15% saving which sounds good but is actually 10-25% worse off
with a water meter its often hard to loose
if you dont have one you can get one fitted and iff you dont like the results you can go back to unmetered but the next person will be stuck with the meter
my water bill halved with a meter and when you consider the standing charge was around 40% off the bill that quite a difference

as an aside if your surface water[roofs and garden] discharges on your land and not in the drains then you can claim a rebate if you dont already get it

Unless the government change their mind you are not forced to have a smart meter fitted.

I was offered one for a recent meter change, I was adamant that I did not want one (due to the signal radiation as it's almost directly under my HF radio) and got one with an isolator fitted instead. There is enough interfierance to radio comms with all the PLT, broadband, wifi devices etc all causing interference - I didnt want something else too.

Now I'm kicking myself - perhaps I should have had it because its a PITA to go down the cellar to read it & I keep forgetting.

I was wondering why I was glowing been round these meters all day , do you own a mobile phone , have wifi watch TV, there's signals radiation all around you, your neighbours probably have them.
