Has anyone else had any ghostly happenings at home or am I losing my marbles?

We have doors upstairs (both locked and sliding) which keep on opening and closing. Last night the sliding wardrobe doors opened about 12 inches and we could hear the hangers clattering.
There were no cats about so we could not put it down to them. Also the slidy doors need a bit of force aplied to open them so it could not be the wind.
This has happened more over the last week too but other doors have been opening for a long time.

Anyone else had this and do you all believe in ghosts?

I've been a good boy!:D
Not imagining it either.
Anyone else have a ghost residing with them?

In all seriousness...yes.
I used to live in an old farm cottage, and had loads of unexplained happenings. One regular happening which blew everyone's mind was the arrival of a car (complete with headlights passing my window), but no car there. Even the dog used to sit up at the window for it. Then there was the sliding open of the garage door (which was still shut), or the distinct opening squeak of the house door handle (which was still shut). The farmer's house next door was even worse... there was a rocking chair noise in an upstairs room - apparently the room where his grandfather used to have a rocking chair years before. Or the time I went out with the farm yard quiet, and returned to the ghetto blaster on at full blast in the barn. The list is endless.

I reckoned it was an old farmer in my house, since he came and went at different times of day, subject to things like harvesting seasons etc. Sometimes you had a feeling of someone being there, although I never saw anything. The best way to deal with it is to talk to him, and rebuke him as if he was anyone else annoying you...like "shut up, I'm watching the telly the now - away and annoy someone else", and the feeling went away.

We now live in a new estate where there used to be a "Home for Feeble Minded Girls" (I'm not making this up), and there's talk of girl ghosts in some houses. We had a bit of this (unexplained noises on the stairs etc, but nowhere near as much as the farm) when we first moved in but the rebuking tactic worked. We jokingly blame "the girls" for anything unexplained, but the same theory applies... tell them to keep the noise down and they do... as if they're real girls running up your stairs.

We had a ghost, a poltergeist to be more accurate, (*) who occasionally rattled the small glass sliding panels in the wall cabinet. We would be sitting there and the glass would rattle. tappity-tap tap tap....... tappity-tap tap tap and could last for about a minute sometimes. very rhythmic.

We would tell guests who experienced it that it was a friendly ghost and not to worry. A couple were un-nerved so we put a bit of card between the doors to stop them rattling when these sensitive guests were visiting.

We tracked it down ( pun not intended ) to goods trains crossing over points a few hundred yards away and the vibration through a strata of blue clay on which both the house and tracks were built. The panels were resonant if the trains were travelling at the right speed over the points.

The ghost left when the track was up-graded. Sad because we rather liked "him" as a talking point with nervous guests.

(*) Ghosts just drift around and maybe make some moaning sounds but do not move things.

I sometimes hear a moaning noise from next door at night. I wonder if they'll let me set up a camera?

cannot say if thats your problem, but there are evil spirits, fallen angels. have you got or have you dabbled in the occult,in that house, even for fun, tarra cards , boards, books ect.

My sister reckons she once saw a ghost at the top of our stairs when we were young children, my wife says she saw one in the ladies' rest room in a pub in Aberdeen (the bar maid confirmed that others had seen her) and a mate of mine told me he'd seen a woman and several children, dressed in period costume, when he was working on a refrigeration plant in a pub cellar.

Why have I never seen anything? It's not fair!

No I'm an adult. Rodents or negative pressure

Have you any adolescent teenagers around, sometimes disturbances happen around them, though not as dramatic as Stephan Kings 'Carrie.
Usually, there is a perfectly rational explanation or an overreactive imagination. However we have experienced various unexplained/impossibe experiences over the years, but, we have always lived in old houses with lots of history.
Don't worry though these 'things' cannot harm. I'm more scared of other people.
