Texacom Premier Questions

Hi,

My next house project is to replace our aging alarm panel. All my sensors are wired in and most have been replaced during the decorating. The bell boxes (F&R) are in good working order and I put fresh batteries in them last year.

So that leaves the panel and keypad.

I am thinking of buying this Premier 24 kit: https://www.securitywarehouse.co.uk/catalog/texecom-premier-24-metal-kit-p-3884.html

Firstly I'd like to program it via my computer so I'm guessing I'd need:

Is this correct?

Is this a false economy or will it work OK?

I'm going to need a battery - can anyone tell me what size I need?

Finally, have I missed anything?!

First is your existing system wired eol ? If not then you will either have to have......" A " a global tamper for all your devices or " B " put the resistors in all your devices, or " C " buy a premier 48 instead , wintex normally comes free in the box , they may remove it and charge you 4.99 for it ! eBay lead not in till 19th sept can't comment , battery 7.0 ah .

as above, as for missing anything, that really depends on what you want the panel to do.

I would look at the feedback on the cable to see what that says before risking it, looks like there is non available for a few weeks.

It is an Ademco Microtech Accord XPC fitted by ADT at the request of the previous owners (we moved in back in 2009). I defaulted the panel and have the engineers code.

There's not much wrong with the panel but I'd like to fit one more sensor as part of the upgrade and am unsure about programming it in. Also, the keypad is looking scruffy.

Thanks. Each sensor has two resistors in it - one across the the alarm and one in parallel. I checked the use manual for the Accord and it is called Double Balanced. Is this the same as your reference to 1k, 1k?

Yes , you will have to set the zone wiring in the panel for 1k, 1k

So I have the panel and other bits and am currently planning the installation. One thing a noticed in the manual is that EOL resistors are noted as being 4K7 and 2K2....

Since I currently have 1k resistors for the contacts and tamper I guess I'm buying new resistors - is this correct? Is there anything special I need to look out for or can I buy something like these? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Resistors...-of-10-/300981063392?var=&hash=item4613de8ee0

Thanks once again.....

have a read of page 54 Zone Wiring type 4 but if you do want to change the resistors then they should have been supplied with the panel anyway, they certainly did with mine

Thank you Paul. I should have said I did read page 54 and only saw the option for 1k/1k with a third 3k over the fault. In any case, you are correct - I have the resistors supplied with the panel so am good to go. Cheers...

Thank you Paul. I should have said I did read page 54 and only saw the option for 1k/1k with a third 3k over the fault.

I thought that was the values you have in your existing detectors? you can ignore the 3K as this would be used if an anti masking detector was being used (which I presume your not)
