Texacom Premier Questions

Time for another question - sorry! I've installed the panel, powered up and programmed the system through the keypad (I couldn't get the USB com to work). I did the walk tests and the bell tests and all is good. However when I put the cover back on the panel and got out of engineers mode the alarm sounded and I got a bell tamper fault displayed on the keypad.

I have two bells (front and rear) and have wired them in the same way as my accord and in the sticky at the top of this section. This is what I have at the bells (ignore the extra red/black wires they are for additional comfort LEDs):

And this is what I have at the panel:

It's hard to see but I have...

- both red wires in the +ve.
- both blue wires in the Ring
- the black wire to the rear bell is in the 0v
- the yellow wire to the front bell is in the Tamp
- the remaining black and yellow wires are connected in the chocolate block.

Can anyone see where I've gone wrong please?

you say you have wired them correctly, so either the tampers are not closing or you have a break.

disconnect the second bell, can you get the first bell on its own secure?

So it looks like I might actually have a fault with the wiring for the rear bell. I have an open circuit between the black and yellow wires going to it. I intend to do some more investigating once I've picked my daughter up from school....

17:00 school run?

After school club.....

So I disconnected the rear bell and tested the black/yellow wires for continuity - they were fine. So I reconnected everything as I had and it has now started working. Perhaps I had a dodgy connection somewhere.

Thanks to all for your help. I can now move onto customising the settings and adding a couple more zones. First up is to work out how to stop the dreadful noise when setting for night time and to allow the master user to reset faults.

Usb com ..... Look in device manager on your PC/ laptop it will have given it a comm port number , you need to set this in the top tab in wintex for it to work, you may have to download the drivers aswell !

Thanks - I can't even get that far as the drivers for the cable wont load from the CD-Rom....

I got the USB Com working. For anyone who stumbles across this thread in the future, when you install Wintex onto your computer it drops the latest drivers onto your c:\ drive. The ones that worked with windows 7 were in C:\Program Files (x86)\Texecom\Wintex\USB-Com\Windows x64. I just pointed device manager to that folder and bingo!

A have one further question - when I put the panel into engineers mode and remove the cover I get some mild bleeping from the keypad and internal speaker. There aren't any messages on the keypad. Does anyone know what it is warning me of?

Cheers...

Mild beeping as soon as you take the lid off, is to warn you you've taken the lid off...?

If you do it outside of engineering you will get a tamper alarm.

Thanks - this is my first alarm install and my only previous experience is with the old Accord and it didn't do this.

I now have the alarm working as I want it, including the extra zones. I'd like to say a big thank you to all who assisted in this thread and sorry for the stupid questions!

One final question - I promise! I've tried to keep everything neat and tidy in the panel and have labelled all the cables. I also have spare cables running to the 1st floor for when that gets re-decorated and I can put in a few more sensors. I have even put in a telephone cable between the panel and the incoming BT socket in case I want to add coms.

Is there anything else I should do now in order to make things easier for me in the future (and I've forgotten how it's wired) or indeed if the house has a new owner?

When I opened the Accord for the first time it was an utter mess and took ages to figure out how it worked...
