Hello All,

I require two garden lights wiring up about 5m from the house. The plan is to use a FCU taken from an indoor socket and have the external cabling in SWA, dug to a depth of approx 60cm. The circuit is currently protected by a fixed RCD. Is this work notifiable or not? I am a bit confused with the newer regulations.

Cheers

No, it is not notifiable.

How do you plan to terminate the SWA at the FCU, and, more importantly, at the lights? Not many are designed to take 1 SWA gland, let alone the 2 you'll need at the first light.

Good point, I hadn't thought about that. Could I use a wiska junction before the lights?

Yes, provided that the cables from those to the lights won't be hidden and at risk of damage.

Don't forget to use earth clamp bars in the Wiska boxes - makes life a whole lot easier.
