How come your installing it, they offer free installation when you buy the kit don't they?

i think its £179 with no install or £250 with install
I'm a electronics engineer ( parking equipment) never really looked into heating wiring before , but seems a simple task , just need a little help, wife will kill me if heatings goes wrong :)

Also on your old timer the 4th pic, is that a pure yellow wire or is it green and yellow but been used as a switch live?

If this is a combi - you are leaving us guessing - then you are not controlling HW with Hive.

Just seeing half a cacky old programmer and a room stat isn't really enough of the story to start wiring things up.

You can ignore the roomstat and wiring to it as this will now be obsolete.

You need to describe the rest of the system you have... Boiler type, vented, pump, valves etc... Mainly... Do you have a wiring centre?

Dependant on wether that yellow is an earth used as a switch live or not I would proceed as follows,
Live into Live,
Neutral into neutral,
The white wire in the old (2) into the new (1)
The yellow wire old (4) into new (3)
And a link between live & 1

I'd then (not best practice) but put the room stat wires into a choc block, link the black & brown into 1 block and the neutral (blue) in the other and push it back into the wall you've basically created a link and put the hive thermostat over this. Obviously them wires will be live in the wall so be careful...
