So.. I've installed a couple of 9448's , a 9572 and 160ex...

The 9448 were a couple of contacts and couple of pirs.... A siren and that's it.

The 9752 was many contacts (multiples in some zones), pirs, smokes, two bells and two sirens, glass shatter... Dialer. A fairly large system.

160 was mainly pirs and contacts....and dialer

These were all installs at my parents or friends/relatives places....

Time has come to install mine...

Need to have...

Pirs (7)
Contacts(8)
Smoke alarm
Heat
Co2(possible)
Two bells
1 internal sounder.
1or more relays for home automation link.... (Maybe one to signify armed/disarmed, and another as alarm activated)
Dialer

So although I've only really fitted scantronic, I'm open to suggestions...

Would need two keypads and a couple of panics... Would prefer fsl over cc, makes it easier for fault finding... And defo wired over wireless... Like the web interface for programming but happy to do so though keypad (never got downloaded working on the 9752.. But programmed 160ex via web)...

I'm a diy installer not a pro, but happy to research into and think through a solution... Just not experienced with other panels so want and idea before i go ahead and buy one (160ex is the candidate at present).

So please recommend me a panel! -pref with pros and cons but sooner rather then later... I had an attempted break in yesterday!
Any thanks

Galaxy Dimension 48 (16 onboard zones) plus 1 RIO giving an additional 8 zones. 8 outputs on-board (1 is a clean contact relay, but relays are cheap to add anyway).
+ Secure comm's for apps.
+ Cheap parts always available on ebay.
- Honeywell are crap for support (even with trade), but there's usually plenty help here.

I think for the domestic, both Honeywell and Texe offer similar results, it's just a matter of what you're more familiar with that sets the preference.

Couldn't agree more.

I do predominately Risco Agility/Light Sys and Texecom Elite products think the offer my customers everything pretty much between them. Depends on what you want them to do, Risco Agility/Light sys is trade only mind.

Any alarm installed well is better than the best system installed badly.

Any difference in the dimension 48 and galaxy GD96? I like what roasty has done with his setup to read the data and find out what sensors are active etc outside of the alarm.

Also would there be any issues with using vibration sensors or glass break with these?

Anyone willing to send me the installation/programming manual for one or let me know where to sign up to get them? I'm registered on touchpoint for scantronics... Just not for Honeywell.

Silly question that was already answered... please ignore!

The biggest difference is that the 96 has two RS485 busses and this enables two touch center keypads as it's only one per bus with those. Of course there is the additional zone and user counts too.

The 48 allows expansion to the 48 zones. After that, it requires a pcb swap to go higher than 48 zones.

Thanks Galaxy Guy, and i got the pm thanks.

So list at moment is:

ion 160ex vs dg48

Someone else here may be able to offer some advice with the Ion 160EX. I'm not sure what it offers for integration.

Any idea why that is? I wouldn't have thought there was much difference between a touch centre and a MK7. Is this just an arbitrary limitation to encourage people to stump up for the 96?

No, the Touchcenter is fully integrated with regards programming and logs. Better than the standard LCD, with more comm's going back and forth on the line. In saying that, I have had more than one on a line and it worked, but as it's not supported, it's no good for a customer install.
