Hi I have a idect z10i home phone,the mains charger cable is to short for were I want to put the phone so I want to know what type of cable I would need to lengthen the cable by splicing into it.

Do'nt even try to extend the thin cable. You'll not be able to connect it up again, unless you have a soldering iron, some shrink sleeves, and a lot of patience.
Buy yourself an extension cable for the mains side.
Your other option is to try and find an extension lead for the output of the mains supply. I havent seen yours, but it will probably have a plug on teh end. Search for an extension lead to matchj the one you have. or take the power supply to Maplins, they often have the solution sitting on the shelf.
