Before I ask this let me say I am not doing this myself but having a corgi guy come. That said:

If I get the Corgi guy to reroute my gas pipe for a new hob and ask him to fit a flexible gas hose, can I connect this flexible house myself at a later date?

There are two stages to the job 1) to reroute the existing pipe (so I can fit the kitchen) and 2) connect a hob up. If I have two jobs it will cost me 2x£65 for the call out etc.

No
1) Flexible hose is unsuitable for a hob
2) Engineer has to leave the pipe capped off if not connected to an appliance.
Sorry perhaps you can come to some arrangement with the engineer especially if it makes his life easier.

flexible cooker hoses are ok to use to connect hobs in some instances, providing hob MI allow you to do so.

Generally where hose is not subject to excess temperatures (ie above oven ) or where hose may come into contact with sharp edges or be under strain it should be allowed.

see page 38 gas cookers & ranges second edition

thx breezer..useful input....

the hob MI includes the use of flexible hose. The hob is not above the above as the oven is being placed elsewhere and the house would be down the back of the 600m housing unit.

I will ask and see what he says, just didn't want to ask without knowing it might be possible.
