Replacing a ceramic tap core

I have removed the top of the tap and would appreciate advice as to how to remove the rest to be able to replace the ceramic core (quarter turn). The picture shows the top on the right of the picture alongside the tap. The top carries a threaded centre (difficult to see) and seems to hold the 'barrel', in place.
There seems to be a threaded sleeve in the centre of the tap which itself screws into the core but there doesn't seem to be anywhere to put a screwdriver to remove this.
Having got this far, is the outside of the tap (barrel?) simply prised off or is there something else to be undone/ removed?
The tap is quite old but has now become very stiff and core replacement will I hope cure this-I have tried repeated opening and closing but it doesn't make much difference. It doesn't leak.
Any help much appreciated.

There might be a grub screw inside the small hole towards the front of the picture that needs removing before the barrel will come off

Many thanks. I can't see a grub screw there but will look more closely.
I expect it is seized on so will try a bit of persuasion.

Thanks again

WD40 is wonderful stuff...
PlusGas is even better :)

I would expect it to come away with a bit of wiggling and pulling - try not to punch yourself in the face when it gives way!
