Ford Key / Master Key Cutting

I have only one key for an Escort, no red master just the normal (red chipped) key.

I don't know the key number but somewhat guessing by the shape of my key and a friends' cars keys different cutouts, I have attempted to work it out (possibly )



Does the picture makes sense as to the shape/depth of the cuts matching the key number and am I 'reading' the key right.

I am aware that once cut I'll still have to have the Ford Dealer reprogram it for the immobiliser.

why not take it to a ford deaer in the first place?

Possibly if the ketchup was £X in McD's and free in BK?

It's just that I'd heard that Ford charge quite a lot and as well as that they charge seperately for key cutting and then programming...

phone and ask that way you will know for sure, they may also as i mentioned not want to programme a key cut by a n other, and what if it doesnt work, who will you blame?

By looking at the key it can be read.There are no 0's on a ford key just nos 1-4.
The key has 6 cuts,starting from the one nearest the handle,working down to the last cut which is towards the end of the key.The key begins with T which stands for Tibbe(the name of the key).
So look at the first cut,if it is uncut it is a 1.If it is cut all the way down it is a 4.It is handy if you have 2s and 3s on the key because if there isnt they can be hard to differentiate.
So you should have a key like T124324(example),if in doubt pop into your ford dealership and they will tell you the no straight away.
