Hi, my first post so please be kind! My son has a light and fan in the bathroom that are switched on/off together with a pull switch. He wants to be able to switch them on/ off independently from one pull switch. I have a double pole switch but that only allows you to have either one on constantly. What are your recommendations to solve this? Cheers

You cannot switch two things independently from one switch.

Why is yours wired like that? Do you mean a two-way switch?

Yes, it switches the common between two outs. Thanks for the quick reply, Colin

Ideally I would like to use a 3 way then I could use one position for off even though the spare output would be live.

Yes but I could put a feed from the light on to the fan as well couldn't I? You are on the ball mate, cheers

If I had feed to fan and light on 2 and just to fan on 3 would that not work?

You're probably right, just didn't want to have two separate switches. Never mind I will fit another switch for the fan. Thank you so much for your patience and kind help. There is no doubt that I will need more help in the future and people like you make it a great experience, cheers again, Colin
