Is this a "standard" door lock type, like a Euro cylinder for example?

My son and his g/f have a new flat and they want to change the lock on the only entry door so that nobody (such as former occupants) could possibly have a key. The g/f is a bit twitchy about being in the flat alone.

From the photos, is it possible to tell if this lock cylinder can easily be replaced in the same way that a Euro cylinder is easily replaced with a new one off the shelf?

Yes, that's a standard euro cylinder. With a Mul-T-Lock key.

It looks as though the previous tenant bought one that is too short on purpose to reduce the chance of 'lock snapping', so take it out and measure it and probably add on 5mm to both sides when you buy a new one (anti-snap of course). I would recommend Avocet ABS anti-snap locks. About £40 a pop.
