Hi,

After recent events I totally drained the system and F&E tank. I gave the tank a good clean and bleach out, clean the system with X800 and then refilled the system with x100.

Now I look and the water in the tank is covered with white 'scum' and greasy to the touch.

I think there might be some more sediment at the bottom, but not really checked that out yet.

What might be causing this so soon?

More importantly, can I do anything to stop it?

Thanks

Thanks for the quick reply.

For info the boiler is on the ground floor, the pump on the 1st floor and the tank in the loft. It is a combined vent and feed system as per the boiler instructions. The grundfoss pump was on '3' and is now on '2' as it is much quieter!

How do I proceed to diagnose and cure the problem?

Thanks.

What boiler is it Not aware of any boiler that specifies it must be a combined Cold feed and vent

It's a potty suprima, and it can have either a combined or separate feed and vent. Both are shown in the installation manual.
System is 18 years old.

Thanks.

Could it be bacterial slime? When I had it there was stringy white jelly in the water.
