How much is it to replace the whole ceiling for a garage down South?

The condition is shown in the pictures attached.

This is not a forum for this question. You need to get quotes from someone local. This forum is for trade talk ie people in the trade with issues ABOUT being in the trade. Good luck

Ah sorry. I thought it was to post questions to people in the trade.

Its less than a mornings work just to board it but you may get charged for the day , day rate charges vary in romsey / southampton area etc but just labour only I would say £160-£200 looking at the size from pics you would be better off taking those boards down but keep them they could be put back up looks like they are loosely put up is there a reason for this? Is there anything above garage? Has it got to be double board or fire boarded for regs?

The only I know is the roof is made of felt.
I'm not sure whether it's double board or fire boarded to be honest.

£160-£200 - is that for a day's work to get the board replaced for the whole garage?
I don't remember the garage being a huge one. Just a car size probably?
What about insulation? Does people insulate their garage?

** Please ignore the stupid question as I have no clue with DIY at all **

what's the m2? Garages are approx 16ftx9ft or 13m2 or there about its a few hours work what do you expect to pay? I suppose anyone could do it so you may find someone who will do it for cheaper but the likes of someone like me wouldn't bother turning up just for a couple of quid, I was asking if there was something over the garage like a room in a house which would have to be done to fire regs but looks like its just a garage and yes people insulate garages If they Are going to use it for other purposes why don't you take the boards down and then take some pics of what u have? Either they was lazy or there is some other reason why they are held in with just a couple of screws

Tbh with you its not that skilled a job you don't need a proper tradesman for that a good labourer or a diy / handyman could do it

Thanks.

Yes it's just a garage. Nothing on top.
I was considering insulation because if we are going to take the board down, might as well do it in one go if the cost of insulating it is not too expensive.

The only thing is I'm not sure to what extend the garage ceiling needs repairing.
Might be just the board needs replacing.

For DIY / Handyman, I assume it does not work the same as a tradesman where they will come and give you an estimate the amount of effort needed to get something done.
I assume I will need to explain it over the phone?

At the moment, I'm still waiting to hear back from the seller whether our offer has been accepted.
But the same time, I want to gauge how much cost it needs to get it done.

Trying to avoid buying a house which needs a lot of repairs.

p/s: Anyone seen my other question about conservatory roof?

I would be worried more on focusing on the house rather than the garage I wouldn't be loosing any sleep over a few boards in a garage

Of course. Inside the house is lovely.
Everything was recently done up.

Only issue is the conservatory and garage... We were told by the agent also.
