PIR's & smoke detector recommendations for Galaxy G520

Title says it all.
I'd like to integrate some smoke detectors into my system and fit a PIR in most of the rooms.
What are your preferred brands/model no?

Same here ! But the RXC-ST is the replacement for the RX40 ..... But you can still get the RX40

Personally I prefer to keep what are essentially 'safety critical' and 'convenience' devices completely separate. If your Galaxy alarm fails for some reason then that's unfortunate, though it's unlikely to cost you your life. However, if your smoke alarms don't activate and wake you up because of a fire at 2am then this is more serious.

In a full Grade A or Grade B fire alarm system everything is centrally powered and monitored, and connected to individual sensors and sounders using fireproof cable. If there is a fire then you can be pretty sure that the alarm system is going to activate. If individual sensors fail the fire panel will detect this pretty quickly and alert that this is the case. Fire panels are also pretty much fail-safe and will carry out their own internal self-tests to make sure that any problems are quickly identified.

Sensors like the Menvier M12 are great, but are centrally powered, and have no inbuilt sounder. If the power supply fails, or the Galaxy fails then you instantly lose all protection. I've avoided installing this type of detectors for exactly this reason. Instead I opted for a set of Aico self-contained mains powered interlinked alarms with a ei128r relay module. If the alarms sound then the relay module triggers a zone on the Galaxy. If the power fails or the Galaxy processor has a ill-timed funny five minutes then the individual alarms can work independently, powered by their own internal 9v battery. You don't have quite the same 'convenience' of knowing which particular smoke detector operated, though if you're in the building this is easy to identify - and if you're not then this information still doesn't confirm whether its a false alarm or not.

That said, I'd be interested in other's thoughts on this. Do you trust the technology?

I have ordered 3 x Optex RXC-ST and will fit those in my Garages first and another 11 to follow in the coming months as I get infrastructure in place in the main house.

Ultomoat many thanks for your in-sight and advice and I will be going the route you recommend - makes absolute sense.

I had a look at the Aico Ei2110e mains powered unit which is a 2100 series & looks like it could fit the bill nicely. According to the documentation the Ei128r base is compatible with the 2100 series so looks like a good combination.
I like the idea of the detectors being inter-linked and independent of the Galaxy but still being able to connect to the Galaxy zones.

12 of these units can be linked and I have 11 zones in the main house.
I also plan to fit a further 3 in the outside garages. I'm thinking to link these 3 together.
I will then wire all 14 of these back into the Galaxy as suggested.

Also been looking at CO detectors - again any recommendations?
I'd like to stick with a mains/battery unit and again have a relay out to the Galaxy. The Aico Ei261 is not compatible with the Ei128 base so will have to rule that one out.

EDIT-

Having now read all the technical data I have decided to go with Aico CO sensors as well. They explain in the manual that smoke & CO alarms should not be inter-linked.
For this reason I will not be linking the CO sensors into the Galaxy as this could lead to confusion. I only require two CO sensors and we are likely to be in any of those zones if / when they trigger.
