Looking at buying a flat which has an antiquated Glow-worm boiler in the kitchen and a traditional tank in the airing cupboard. I'm negotiating with the owner about whether this needs replacing in the near future.

[Apologies for appalling photo]

Not sure what the water pressure* is like so don't know whether an unvented system could be installed but for the engineers out there: if this was in your place would you be thinking about replacing it, or leave it be until it finally breaks?

Cheers,

Dave.

Unless it's broken don't change it. You won't save any money for at least 10 years. Wait until it breaks and can't be fixed or is condemned for whatever reason.

Are you sure that the way its fitted the case can be removed for servicing and repair?

It's the same as my old boiler the case just pulls off directly outwards you don't need to lift it up or pull down its just 4 screws to undo and pull towards you. Looks like it will just fit under that wooden architrave to me.
