Hi

Does anybody know what has caused my lawn to die and turn into the mess it is now?

Is it because of the amount of rain we have had and bad drainage? The grass has been like this since December the only thing I have put on the grass was Autumn feed from evergreen in November ?

Below the earth is lots of good drainage lots of chippings, crushed stone etc

The lawn was laid nearly 4 years ago and never had a problem with it before

Any insight into what would cause this and what do I need to do going forward would be most appreciated

I can see in the picture you have a slide, and the answer is obvious you have kids!

(no only joking, seems your grass is just dead, what killed it is the question, did anyone by any chance put salt or salted water on the grass?)

No nothing apart from the autumn feed has been put on there. No idea why the grass has died? Could it be poor soil or drainage or both or something else?

It's strange how only now after 4 years since it was laid from turf this has happened?

Sure you didn't use weed killer by mistake or containers swapped, seems like the stuff you used didn't do much good. sadly you can't bring back things from dead, so start planning for a new lawn. I have similar problem with my hedge, it has been there since we moved in in 1975, and has been growing healthy all that time, and now this summer i discovered a small brown patch that has spread to almost quarter of my hedge, yet I have no idea what to do, i will have to call in the experts. I love hedge as it provides shelter for stray cats and birds nesting and provides privacy.

Is there any possibility that salt used when griiting the roads has washed off and found its way into the drainage under the lawn and then with rain been lifted up to the roots ?
