In or out

In or out of the European union

  • Remain in the EU

  • Get out

The more I think about it the more risky leaving seems.
Whatever short-term risks there might be, I genuinely believe that the way the EU is headed the bigger risk is in remaining within the EU. That risk might not become apparent to everyone for another couple of decades or so, but it's there, and if the U.K. remains in, by that time it might be too late.

When the thought of risk worries you, remember what it is that our forefathers fought and died for... How would they regard us now?

He doesn't he dictates to someone from it !

We can manage without the European union it remains to be seen if they can manage without us.
Look up the Greek situation with closed borders they're seeming to now blame the Greeks but really how would we manage with tens of thousands turning up on the beaches it's hardly Greece fault.

1 poster, or 2???

Who cares, send me a PM and I'll answer you that's a promise not like Himaginn who runs away with his tail between his legs yelping and refusing to answer.

Hi Himaginn, please could you give me some of the benefits of the UK staying in the EU,thank you.

I'm sure you've heard them before, but try:
  • Leaving would mean business must still comply with EU laws but we would have no say in setting them
  • Being in the EU gives Britain access to a huge market for our exports, bringing jobs and prosperity
  • Being in the EU allows Britons to work there, retire there, and get free healthcare if they fall ill on holiday
  • Being in the EU attracts investment - global companies are based here because we are part of it
However, since you've already made up your mind, it is a waste of time saying anything to you.

Oh dear ,you must have picked the wrong handle, anyway as we are 1/27 votes we have little to no say,I think the whole world might be a bigger market,my grandparents retired to Spain before the EU(my parents have retired there now)your last point is mute, are you really trying to tell me no large companies are going to stay in the UK

And yet again I shall rebuff the same four reasons..
Leaving the EU does not mean that we would have to comply with their laws. Why would we? We do not have to join EFTA at all.

The EU is a rapidly shrinking trading block and it is important for us to develop new markets or renew old markets.. However, we will still have access to the EU if they want to have access to the UK market.

We will still be able to move to any EU country that we wish if we have skills that they need or enough money to fund our lives in their countries.. Many EU countries require us to have our own health insurance for all but emergency treatment.

The likes of Toyota and Nissan seem quite happy about the UK to not be in the EU

Wow I didn't know ! how does the rest of the world manage ? Norway and switzerland must be falling to bits .....
How did we possibly manage before we joined ........
Drivel and tosh we dont need the eu they need us .........but on a subject I won't mention the eu is in turmoil and falling to bits.
But as I suspect you removed the post showing the trouble ALL across the EU people can't see it on here. And it is across all the EU.
When all these unfortunate people and not just from the war zones see on their smartphones the ordered life and society of europe who can blame them for wanting to get here ? The trickle from Africa will become a torrent.

Having enough money is what allows you to retire somewhere surely?

I was interested to hear that surveys report that the antis tend to be old and less educated.

Some say they are also seen as ignorant, stuck in the past, bigoted, out of touch, and right wing. I wonder why.

It's amusing to hear that Fire and Grouch thinks that the EU will permit their banking and investment business to pass through the City of London if UK does not comply with EU regulations. Let's just check what Switzerland had to do recently....

In another reply, in another thread:
I don't really like PMs far better things be said out in the open for all to see.
And
I don't know how to send a PM
But now:
Send me a PM and I'll answer you that's a promise

Glad to see that you've mastered the art of the PM gasbanni but find it strange that your attitude has changed from "far better things to be said out in the open", to "Send me a PM and I'll answer you that's a promise".

Bolo, this is a thread about the EU... Perhaps it would be better for you to open a new thread about how to send PMs

But the minor detail that you have neglected to mention is that Switzerland routinely sells more to the EU than it buys and has a trade surplus so in terms of negotiation has much to lose by not bowing the the EUs demands... There is no such issue with the UK.
