Karcher lance problem

I cant' get the "quick release" nozzle fitted into the gun assembly. I can't push it in far enough to be able to twist it into place. I have tried some oil down the inside of the gun, no effect. Any ideas?

My thoughts too.....maybe it's become displaced and slipped down into the socket?
