Yes, connect Live supply to both Permanent Live and Timer Live.

Or if easily accessible you could have it work as a timer with a 3 core and E cable.

Hi thanks for reply
The cable running to inline fan is twin and earth with earth side cut back leaving red and black. Do I put a loop between red and black or loop from timer to red or black
Thanks again

From timer to red - assuming the red and black are in the right place.
Thanks Again for your replys ive added a photo hopefully u can point me in right direction with were to put loop in to allow fan to work.
Old fan black wire when to switch live
Red wire went to permanent live
thanks Again

PS is that a burn mark by the permanent live terminal?
Probably damaged when live and neutral were connected to the live and switched live terminals.

Now the timer circuit is blown, disconnect it and throw the timer circuit board in the bin and connect live and neutral to the 2 motor wires.

On some of these timer boards there is a fusible resistor in series with the swtched Live input as protective device. If this board has a fusible resistor then it might only be this resistor that has burnt out ( as intended for when the unit is incorrectly connected )

Stayclean, here's where you went wrong. You said that
Old fan black wire when to switch live
Red wire went to permanent live
but you indicated that the old fan was not a timer fan.. Non-timer fans only have two connections, live and neutral.

That seems odd for the old manual fan to have switch live and permanent live terminals.

Can only suggest maybe the old fan had some kind of 'one size fits all' sticker with terminal markings which wasn't properly lined up with the terminals.

Clutching at straws now to find some logic in what's happened here.
