Hi,

So I recently picked up a Hoover Nextra Larder Fridge for the garage to store my recently brewed homebrew in.
Its been running for 3 days now and I have tried all settings (from 1 to 5 inside) and I am struggling to get it below 6c when empty, and 10c with just a few litres of water in it.

Not sure if the compressor runs? Cant hear anything from external but can hear like a freezing noise inside when the door is open. The rear top of the inside of the fridge seems to have ice forming on it.

Anybody any ideas/suggestions other than 'having words .... ' with the 'seller' who said it was 'perfectly working'. ??

Did you let it settle for 48 hours after transporting it before switching it on. If not switch it off & let it defrost & then try again.

I left it 22 hours from moving it before turning it on.

I will try turning it off & letting it defrost .. then try again.

Defrosted it. tried everything. Will not get below 8 degrees.

Is it possible that the thermostat is faulty, but not gone?

Compressor works etc, fridge gets down to and holds 8c .. but its a beer fridge ...

Presumably you have a fridge thermometer telling you the temps., can you vary the temp by adjusting the thermostat? If so then yes I would think the stat is beginning to fail.

Right,

Thermostat changed. Temps now more desirable.

2c at the top shelf, 5c in the middle, 7c at the bottom (the fridge is 6ft btw, not under counter).

Could I add an internal fan to get the middle and bottom temps down?

No good as a 'beer' fridge when Lager can only go on the top shelf ....

That is rather strange as cold air falls & hot air rises, naturally, so I can't really understand why your fridge is colder at the top than the bottom, it should really be the other way round. Is the door seal OK?

Agreed, those temps are the wrong way around completely? - Can the OP re-check?
