Hi all,

I'm about to do some maintenance on my sealed system, and, as I am having to drain it down, I'm considering installing a particulate filter. Some people seem to swear by them, and others say they are not necessary, so I would be interested in your comments/advice.

As a selection, I'm looking at the Magnaclean Pro 2, the Spirotech MB3 and the Fernox TF1.

What are your thoughts/recommendations?

Thanks.

If the system is clean you don't need one.

Usually fitted by those installers who are not cleaning so much.

A mag filter only collects mag dirt. But some have a little wire wool meant to collect a little non mag.

If its clean and I badly want a filter then I usually fit a gauze filter.

I have fitted a few Fernox TF1 without any problems so far.

****** Tony.
Filters are usually fitted by installers who would like ongoing protection.

And that's not how a spirotec works

Ok so some installer fit a filter rather than flush. But don't put us all in the same box.
Every boiler I instal gets a spirotec mb3 fitted

You could always go with one of the new Honeywell filters...

That'd look lovely under a boiler in the kitchen eh? Why couldn't they have made it white FFS

What bad things.
they don't split and leak.
Don't need to open them so no seals to damage
Easy to clean on service
Never had a blocked plate etc with one fitted seen loads of blocked plates where magnacleans/tf1s/all the other ****e on the market are fitted.
