When was the last time you triggered the alarm to see if the outside bell box was working correctly ?
Could be faulty bell box not sounding ? and has an issue causing tamper fault

It definitely works... when the battery ran out at 3am this morning we knew about it. I have also just tested again by arming the alarm and then walking in front of Z2 PIR. The bell box was definitely ringing outside.

Still not had picture of bell box or voltage readings ?

The picture is hopefully attached

How are the voltage readings taken?

I do have a multimeter yeah.

From the control panel Z3 is the furthest away, followed by Z4, then Z6 and then Z2.

I'm intrigued as to what are you thinking next?

I've just discovered that I got this wrong

THATS where I would start ! 1980s c type not even a polycarbonate box ,be prepared for it crumbling when you touch it !

Oh crumbs...

Well, I take it that I'm best being prepared with a replacement one before I attempt opening the existing one.

Please can someone direct me to which ones I should be considering that would be compatible for my alarm? I definitely want a waterproof one

Five years ago, when I was plasterboarding the room behind where this bell box is I remember there were two wires going out to it if that helps.

Wow !
I would link out tamper on panel for the bell box ov to tamp (C,D) with wire link.
Problem will go away
Think you should replace complete bell box ASAP as a bell box that old will defo cause you problems.

Texecom 1e cheapest and same make as your panel

Thanks, is this the best I can get or are they mostly the same anyway?
Just had a look again at the bell box and found that there's no screws anywhere. Are they on top of the bell box?

Also, have I to bother with the voltage readings?

Screw will be near strobe light on the bottom.
Lots of different bell box models
New units can be fully backlit if required.Look on ebay ?

Somehow I don't think you will need to unscrew it from past experience with this type ,the screw will be rusted to hell and a punch to the cover will leave the backplate to be removed !
