A Few Days Ago.........

You could have said, "He was a big fellow, large eyes, one green and one blue, red hair, etc. It would have meant little. It still would not have identified the poster. Whereas to describe the fellow as obese, smelly etc, is putting them down. You didn't need to do that, and if you did, you'd done enough by introducing yourself.
I can understand you introducing yourself and becoming engaged in conversation, however short, but to introduce yourself and walk away is strange behaviour. It was obviously intended as a snub, a statement of something.

I could add, instead of giving me a clue why you did, explain precisely, but I'm not that interested.
I just think it was unnecessary, especially from you. The sort of behaviour I would expect from others.

Every time you post, you just reinforce how pompous you are and why many on here have stopped trying to discuss or debate with you.
Keep it up matey, you'll just have yourself to argue with soon!

Because I accused you of making vague comments, there's no need to be more vague.
"So" obviously meant "What is the relevance of your post?"

Bolo could have written and done all sorts of things but he didn't.

I could have said to you "You need not have written that". It would have been equally irrelevant.

No wonder your posts are so long. You seem to be quite clever but not at all intelligent.

Two things actually, the first being that despite my age, there is little wrong with my hearing.

Don't bother Bolo,

The wannabe forum "intellect" and know it all has spoken.......... - Life's too short......;)

100% true big-all and I can't stop thinking about it! To be honest, apart from one poster I would really love to meet in person, I've never given a second thought to the sort of people who are behind the various user names. However, now that I've encountered one, I have started to wonder. BTW, I held back on the details of my fellow travellers description.

wow i wonder how that happens and where this thread is going although i havent read it yet beyond your post above

blimey rather unusually a thread has gone off on a tangent :D
i personally do judge people on first appearances and impressions but read between the lines i dont think negative just different
i dont think there are such a thing as stupid just someone with different skill sets doing there best
in general if someone is different they are just that different
society works with tolerance and understanding
no one is perfect i certainly aint so i don't expect others to be
:D:rolleyes:

OK, let me explain, in a long post of course, why I think bolo was wrong to write about the other poster in the way that he did.
a) a person's personal hygiene has no bearing on their opinion, or the validity of that opinion. It's the substance and supportive evidence of their opinion that carries the argument, not their personal appearance. Otherwise, perhaps Einstein would have had problems.

b) if bolo wanted to whisper the old "BO" in someone's ear, he could have done it via pm, or whatever. He need never have met that person again.

c) the poster, with the personal hygiene problem, probably has loads of other 'social' problems because of their bodily hygiene. Social media could be one of those opportunities for them that personal hygiene has no effect. Bolo may have destroyed this poster's little world, possibly with their valuable opinions no longer available. Perhaps their opinions were not valuable, we'll never know.

d) I suspect bolo had an opinion on whether this other poster's opinions were valuable or not, and bolo exercised the opportunity to influence the extent to which this poster felt they could offer an opinion. That, to my mind, was underhanded. Otherwise, why point out the thread in which this poster was contributing.

e) there is a possibility that bolo wanted some sort of lever over, either this poster, or some other imaginable poster in the future. So now people may think, "I'd better not upset bolo for fear of him identifying the obese, smelly poster as me." In which case bolo is playing a very silly and underhanded game.

f) finally, bolo's contribution are appreciated, as reasonable and intelligent comments. Sometimes we agree and sometimes we don't. There was no need for bolo to resort to such tactics as ridiculing a fellow poster, whatever his opinions. I thought bolo was way above that. I was wrong.

Would I have behaved like that? I'd like to think that I wouldn't, despite all the differences between me and other posters.

Yawn.

We are taught at school not to judge a book by it's cover. There's no need to go on and on about it Himmy. It's not nice, sure, but people do judge by appearance. We do it subconsciously too, we can't stop it.

You really do like to lecture people don't you? I think you need a bit of a life of your own instead of trying to point out the flaws in other peoples - amusingly you're doing to Bolo what Bolo did to the forum stranger.
