Well DeadBeat now I know your background I'm even more impressed! only joking I'm an accountant so stereotypically I couldn't be further from a tool kit lol!

Do you mind me asking where and how you bought your kitchen?

My kitchen in the new house a galley style and therefore I cant change the layout of it so I've been doing a bit of research online to see what my options are for just a refurb ie replace doors, drawer fronts and worktops and have come across http://www.diyhomefit.co.uk/ which appear to be the most comprehensive site for sizes and clear prices but I would also like to investigate the full self build kitchen option like yours if needed.

No problem, dont mind at all, the kitchen was ordered from http://www.diy-kitchens.com/ they had a show room in Pontefract, Im in manchester so actually made the trip over there twice to have a look at the units, thought they were really good quality for the price. They dont help in any way with what you order, although im sure they can advise if you call them. so i had to do more research their to make sure i got everything i needed in end panels and work tops and such. The kitchen was around 5k for all units and worktops, not including oven and hob etc. i built all of the units myself in sketchup when planning it as its something i enjoy doing. but they dont even have a 3d design tool like b and q might etc. i always thought it would be a good idea for them to release some sketchup models for users to download.

Thanks DeadBeat, hopefully i'll be getting the keys to the new place within the next few weeks so i'm sure i'll be spending a lot of time on this forum looking for advice and I'm eagerly awaiting your next installment!

Had last weekend off DIY, a welcome break so not got as much done as normal, this weekend was mainly spent cleaning although the following pictures were taken before that happened. anyway, the main things that have happened recently are, I fitted the new sink and tap, The hob was connected to the gas so we can cook, the handles for the doors arrived after finally deciding on which to get. Ive managed to fit two handles so far!









we have also chosen a floor tile, so hoping to order those probably this week!

The fridge doesnt properly fit in the gap, its too tight, so im going to have to space out the cupboard above with some end panel and move the unit to the right over by 3 or 4 cm. not too much of a big job, but a shame ive got to do it. luckily i left enough wiggle room around the boiler to to move the unit no bother, otherwise i may have had to buy a smaller fridge! Its the first cock up ive found on the kitchen yet so ive not done too badly so far.

I also plan to lift the fridge up to fill the gap above it and also lift the cooker up to do the same, i have a filler panel for the cooker but think it would be best underneath not at eye level. I'll probably do all that work at the weekend and carry on doing door handles in the evening this week.

The handles are all fitted now, the kitchen is coming together very well

had quite a long break after those last pictures, the weather was better and it was time to have a break from DIY etc. However ive been back on the tiling last weekend and this weekend, so thought id update you.

if im honest ive made a bit of a mess of the wall tiles they still look ok, but if i had the time and money id start them over again. however im very pleased with the floor. my plan now is to go back and finish the bathroom tiling, its about time i got it done. The only bits left in the kitchen now are the kickboards around the floor and the plinth underneath the wall cabinets, everything else is in and working. shouldn't be long at all





Once the bathroom is finished we should be on to sorting out the dining room and bedroom number two. then the living room. If anyone would like to send donations? lol
