I know it is probably a very obvious thing, but how does one fit one of these:

The male thread will be going into a shower mixer manifold, but how do I get a tight fitting AND get it to point in the correct direction for the pipe to go ?

I am baffled

PTFE tape on the threads, wound on in a tapered fashion. Or hemp and boss white.
Overpriced sealing string products can also be obtained.

Don`t think Hemp & Boss White is allowed in this instance (?) Wrap the PTFE tape on the thread in a clockwise direction.
