Solenoid valve question..

It has been done, by many many other people, internet is full of so many different ideas and plans and strategies, I wouldn't know if their plans worked as per their claim, I did not develop my plan to sell but for my own gains, and I was still developing it, testing it with my own money, and proceeding with caution, needless to say i had many different plans first and they didn't work as well, and I lost a fair bit of my money as well, may be as much as a couple of grand, those plans were based on different strategies, but after suffering some losses, I changed my strategy, did dry runs, and it started to work really well when fortunately or unfortunately I had to get into a highly attractive contract, that is another story which i won't go into on these forums, a product that i developed and it started to sell so well, I had no other competitor, It even started to sell in other countries including America, Europe, and most of UK, through a distributor, as well as direct sales, suddenly when orders started pouring in I could barely cope with demand, let alone spend any time fine tuning any of my lotto plans, in the end, that product I made, i can no longer make it now for a price that similar Chinese products are retailing for. I am glad I got in good time when i did.

Horace Batchelor springs to mind.

The "Famous Infra-Draw Method"
Batchelor sponsored programmes on Radio Luxembourg to promote his "Famous Infra-Draw Method", a system that he claimed increased the chances of winning large sums on the football pools. Before the National Lottery started in 1994, the "Pools" was the only way to win large sums for a small stake. Listeners were asked to submit their stakes to Batchelor, who then determined how the stake was placed. He was paid only if the bet won. Infra-draw was thus not dependent on his predictive talent for its financial success.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horace_Batchelor#cite_note-whirligig-1

If I recall correctly his "method" of "predicting" score draws was to create large perms ( permutations ) such as "any 8 matches from maybe 40" (*) and get people to pay for most the entries.. This did mean that his entries did seem to win a lot of money but only because he made so many entries.

(*) If it was any 4 from 6 you would multiply the 4 highest numbers: 6 x 5 x 4 x 3 = 360 And you would then multiply the 4 lowest numbers: 1 x 2 x 3 x 4 = 24 then divide 360 by 24 which gives 15 entries

or for 8 from 40
40..33 = 3100796899200
8..1 = 40320
which gives 76904685 entries on the pools.....

I remember the football pools, a guy used to come weekly and leave and collect coupons, i never won anything on them, but the stake was pretty low like 10p a cross, I think they were called littlewoods football pool or something like that.

If its only a fish tank being emptied then a simple tube used to siphon the water out will be a simple solution avoiding the use of PICs and solenoids.

Terminating the siphon tube at say 50 mm above the base of the tank will leave a small depth for the fish to survive in.

KISS

I use to do this but the point is it is messy and I wanted a project, elegant solution and without having to supervise :)
I *could use a loft tank to fill with water and then a 12v pump to raise the now isolated water to the tank, and prime the siphon which I think would solve all the water reg issues but even I think that would be a bit too much lol

BTW some I.C.'s might be worth something there are people on ebay who make good money - I have had to many a time purchase NOS from suppliers who have old surpless. Old DTL logic I.C.'s go for £12 + each some times!

Brilliant, why I had a feeling you could well be using a micro processor for your application as opposed to cmos logic chips, as most of these cmos chips are now being made defunct, many aren't available as microprocessors have taken over, but yes I could well use your skills and so i will PM you my email.

Please do Mike, I am snowed under with many jobs in the new house at the moment but alwasy enjoy a challenge :) Just PM me.
