Hi
I'm about to replace my old electric hob with induction one and I'm wondering if I need to get an electrician to fix wiring first. Currently it looks like the hob is wired together with the oven to the same unit (see the photo) and there is a cooker switch above the worktop (45 amp?). Max induction hob power is 7.2 Kw.
Can I just connect induction hob to the existing unit or is there additional wiring/socket required?
Your help much appreciated.

You need to know the rating of the fuse/cct breaker supplying the cooker switch & the rating of the oven to know for sure, but you are allowed to take diversity into account for an oven & hob so could well be ok(your hob will draw 31ish Amps). The cable looks as though it will be substantial enough ( I'm thinking it looks like 6mm from the pic.)

Thanks jj4091
This leads me to another issue of enlarging worktop cut out by 10mm (width). What's the best tool to use, jigsaw or planer?
I guess I should start another thread...
