I don't know how the ABS is designed.

If its a wheel sensor fault, would disconnecting a each sensor in turn identify the fault ?
IE make the light goes out ?

Opinions please

thanks

The light comes on to indicate a fault is present on the system, it will only go off when the fault is rectified. Some systems will self extinguish the light when the fault is rectified and some need to be reset with a suitable scanner.
You will need to use a suitable diagnostic reader to identify the fault first, if it is a sensor it should tell you which one has gone. Some can be tested with a multimeter but readings would have to be looked up or compared to the others.
A good code reader that displays live data is much easier to use as you can spin each wheel individually and watch the signal to find the culprit, saves time taking wheels off etc.
Common faults related to abs lights being on are: Defective wiring to sensor, broken or corroded reluctor rings and the sensors themselves.

If its a faulty wheel sensor, would unplugging it make the warning light go out ?

Be nice if it was a wheel sensor problem - very easy to p replace !

Not to worry. Its my sister's car and she going to take it to a friend's garage that has the diagnostic wizardry to find the fault.

many thanks for the reply postings.

Normally a team of technical experts get together in a room with some computing power & go from there, creating a prototype, going through rigorous testing to arrive at a final verson of an ABS system that is a viable & safe product.

Sarcasm aside

NO! Doing this will just create additional faults!

To make things easy get the codes scanned with an appropriate scanner tool!

To DIY check the ABS wheel sensors locate the plug for each sensor & measure the resistance of each one & compair all 4! 1 odd reading will normally indicate the faulty sensor, however sometimes the resistances can appear fine & no speed signal is given out from a particular sensor.

Sometimes the reluctor rings fail either by cracking or corroding.
