an anyone offer any advice with dealing with a bowed internal door?

Can anyone offer any advice with dealing with a bowed internal door.

The door hits the stops at the top and the bottom. Its like a longbow.

I can move the stops if that is the only way.

Hopefully the picture of the door with a straight edge will show the issue more clearly than words.

This is kinda inevitable in doors. It would have helped to use three hinges, but it's too late now. You'll never get it straight, unless you go to so much effort that you might as well buy a new one. Most people just live with it!

Oh well , not what i wanted to hear ! But such is life.

If i do replace - any advice ?

Eg is a softwood door more likely to bow that an oak one?
does painting the edges of the door help?
is three hinges the way to go?

Dont want to go through all the trouble of replacing only to find its bowed in a year

I don't know. I think it's more luck of the draw, i.e. which way the grain happens to want to go!

In theory yes. In practice, maybe. Worth a shot.

Yes. If you buy from a place that accepts returns, you should let the door acclimatise for a week or so. If it warps, you can then take it back and try again with another. But if you buy from a place that will not accept warping as a reson for return, then you should hang it straight away.
