Grundfos and Reliance pump set - shocking quality (although the pumps appear to have got better in the last year or so).

Have stopped using OEM supplied sets now as I'm fecked off with those schitty Reliance valves leaking over expensive floors.

At least with option one you have a Heatmiser controller, which, whilst still pants, is better than option 2.

It sounds like I'm making a big mistake here. Out of interest I've just had a closer look at the "lifetime warranty" covering option 2 but it looks like it doesn't cover the pump, valves etc (just the pipe).

Could you please point me in the direction of what I should be buying?
 
Lifetime warranty is a meaningless concept designed by marketing departments.

The main thing is to get the pipe laid properly, but look at Nuheat or Ambiente (of Welwyn Garden City) as they use different pumpsets.

Well, nuheat are in the process of moving to a new supplier.

Both will cost more, but this is not something to be done on a budget. Spend less elsewhere on the project.
 
Both those companies use the Grundfos pump you were lamenting.
 
I know. But like I said the new pump is an improvement over the last version.
Plus on larger jobs I will not use either companies pump sets anyway.
 
I bought my UFH from this company in doncaster that a mate who runs his own commercial building company recommended to me.

the fitter I used was very impressed with the quality and ease to fit it, and not had any issues with it so far!

Some of us on here are fitting miles and miles of the stuff; on a regular basis. You have a sample of one.

Builders always use the cheapest heating components they can find; the standard pump option on your link looks like it has just landed from China and the CE mark is still wet.
 
Afternoon gents.

Resurrecting an old thread here as the systems in question are still available now.

I'm in the market for an underfloor heating system and not coming up with much by means of quality reviews and/or opinions other than those of manufacturers.

This particular thread has plenty of comments regarding what not to buy but not much by way of what we should be buying.

Can anyone help with any recommendations with regards to what I should be purchasing with regards to the separate components. Which are good brands for the pumps, manifold, etc.

For info, my particular circumstance will be a retro fit on top of a solid concrete base. Excavating isn't an option unfortunately.

At the moment I'm steering towards the Nu-Heat LoPro Max. The reason being, it seems that UFH pipes which are encased in a full screed (albeit a thin screed in comparison to standard UFH) will have better heat output than those which are inserted into an insulation board where only the very top of the pipe will perform any meaningful heat transfer.

I ended up installing my own bespoke system, in the end. I used a free flowing screed, at 50mm over 16mm pipes at 150mm centres. Ended up with 1.2Km of pipe over 12 zones.
