Hanging 3-5 mirrors -- can I use the existing picture rail?

I want to create a feature all using 3-5 vintage mirrors I've collected from charity shops.

They're all quite heavy, at a guess 10-20kg each. Some have chains on the back with hooks in place on the wooden mirror back.

I have a picture rail on the wall I want to hang them from. What picture hooks and hanging device would you recommend ie. Metal cord, chain, etc. Or is this a bad ideas? The wall I'm wanting to hang them against is an internal wall mainly made of plasterboard hence why I thought the picture rail might be a better idea to hang from.

grab the picture rail and try and pull it off the wall in case its "decorative"

Hahaha, risky strategy.

Thanks for the hook suggestions. What about hanging from the back of the mirror to the hook on the rail? Should I used metal chain, picture hook wire? Or something different?

Traditional way is with chain.

Beware of buying cheap hooks, some cheap picture rail hooks bend too easily and allow frames to drop off.
