Lines in junction

These three small lines have started to appear in various traffic light junctions.

Seem like a new thing. What do they mean?

If they are not in that then they mean absolutely nothing.
(I cannot find it in the above).

It's not unheard of for highway dept's to make their own signs and markings up.


Why in the top pic, just in front of the amber traffic light - is there a turn right arrow thats got no road behind it?
Some cycle path perhaps?
could they be anything to do with that?

You're right, the arrows do look a bit odd, but they're just meant to direct you to keep to the right when turning right.
For example, if I was turning right, and the blue car opposite was turning right, I would stay to his/her left, and (s)he would stay to my left.

Unlike some junctions where you keep left of each other.

We have had them painted on the roads too, along side some cameras on top of the lights presumably to cath people jumping the lights or speeding through them, or indeed to apportion blame in the event of a shunt.
